This was a gift for my husband because, when we watch TV, the dog likes to get under his feet so he can't sit comfortably without worry about stepping on the dog. My hubby has not yet utilized the storage compartment, but I suspect he will eventually. The dog did pee on it while we were out one night so it gets set up on the hearth while we're gone, but it is just the right size. If it had been any bigger, it would have been too big. It is just the right size.
